Several case studies will be posted here. If you have an interest with a specific condition, or concern, please forward your question to me.
During the winter season, which corresponds with the K channel, and water element I will be addressing the concerns that seem to accompany this time of the year.
For my first presentation I will address one of the most common disharmonies, most often seen in the Spring time of year,( northern hemisphere) however during this time period mankind now finds himself passing through this 'disharmony' has become a year round concern by the people, especially during times of war. It is known as Liver Yang Rising;
Liver Yang Rising.
In our society this condition is one of the most common concerns, complaints being seen in an Ap's office. This western translation would be 'anger', anxiety, or even rage in an extreme case. It may manifest with symptoms such as Hypertension, or headaches.
Treatment of course in OM always strives to get to the 'root cause' of any complaint/concern, and thus yield 'harmony' within the organism. The yin/yang being balanced.
The nature of the cause is sought via several diagnostic modalities.
Appearance, color, of the face, skin, tongue, and pulse diagnosis, etc.
A detailed questionnaire is given.
Upon completion of the ' history/physical', treatment can then begin.
A series of points is used for this condition. Some of them are standard, however, opening gates, seems to work well.
The 4 gates, or even the 6 gates seems to work well.
Tian POINTS are often helpful, however not always on the first treatment.
Careful selection of points must be applied. The wrong combination could be too powerful, or not helpful. Often in several types of AP being used, no treatment for a condition may be given on the first exam, and herbs given, with dietary guidelines. However for standard 8 principal treatment, a patient can expect to be treated, with good outcome on a first treatment.
Again the 'root cause' must be sought, and addressed for the condition to be well managed, or eradicated.
Until that time, a formula such a Xiao Yan San/Wan, could be given, and have the patient report their reaction.
I have seen, and treated Liver Yang Rising, Wood, overacting on Earth, often with 'wind', or dampness, and by just asking basic questions, with a T/P diagnosis, will yield an accurate 'root cause'.
Treatment can then be applied with accuracy, and the 'root' eliminated or balanced.
I will be addressing Metabolic Fire in my next case study. Please check back to this site, and book mark it.
